Currently, IT infrastructure of the city has been invested and managed in synchronization and uniqueness. The data centre of the city is managed in virtualization model for operating the information system- share in the city. The IT services are basically provided: nearly 100% officers from city to districts are equipped with computers at work, 100% officers are provided mailboxes. Step by step, the application of IT in management and operation has been expanded deeply. The city is also expanding the management software to send and receive electronic information from the city’s People’s Committee to the wards under the Government’s Resolution No. 36a/NQ-CP. The digital signatures have been deployed effectively and became a regular application (nearly 80%) in sending and receiving electronic information. Many management information systems have been deployed and used.

In addition, the application of IT  to serve people, enterprises has some positive results as providing information on the city portal and on other ones of departments, divisions and the People’s Committee of districts; providing  online public services including 333 level 3 services (17.24%) and 96 level 3 services (5%); establishing many rules and regulations in synchronization and effectiveness.

Beside the results achieved, the implementation of the e- Government of Can Tho city was slow, not suitable with the potential and strength of the local. The deployment and application of IT are only operating in some daily works, they do not make a big difference in the mode of operation, communication and providing online public services to organization and individuals. Most of the deployed applications are still fragmented so they haven’t been connected and shared yet. The technical infrastructure as well as  the ability to attract capital for investment in IT application are still limited.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of Can Tho People’s Committee,  requested the departments, divisions and boards to focus on implementing to ensure the target of IT transferring plan into the operation of Can Tho city’s government in the period of 2016- 2020 and the plan of 2017. The most important is the issue of e- government architecture as a basement for e- government construction which is synchronization, connection and sharing information from city to wards, from city to ministries, departments of the central supporting the management and administration of the government in serving individuals and enterprises, improving competitiveness and environment in doing business, attracting investment and socio- economic development.
