Ninh Kieu Quay is located in the middle of the junction with Hau River and Can Tho River, Tan An Ward, Ninh Kieu District of Can Tho City with charming river beauty, the image of Ninh Kieu quay appears in poetry and became the symbol of Can Tho City.

Ninh Kieu Quay used to be a river shore at the beginning of Can Tho market. In 1876, the French troops occupied Can Tho. The river was built with bricks, stones along the shore to prevent waves and became the pier of six provinces - where business exchanges were very busy. The river shore was named by the French as Quai de Commerce (Commerce quay), and the people called it with a simple name as Hang Duong quay because along the river banks has a row of pine trees or Le Loi Quay because it was located along the river shore of Le Loi Street. In 1957, the Governor of Can Tho, Do Van Chuoc, built a promenading area and a plant park at Hang Duong quay. Then, Do Van Chuoc submitted to the Present Ngo Dinh Diem (the President of the Republic of Vietnam) to name the park and promenading area as Ninh Kieu in relations to Ninh Kieu historic sites (it is now the town of Chuc Son, Chuong My district, Hanoi) - the marking place recording the victory of King Bac Binh Le Loi and Lam Son soldier teams against the Ming invaders.

Nowadays, Ninh Kieu quay is invested to be a tourism park with the area of 7.000m², attracting most of local habitants and tourists visiting for sightseeing, walking, and breathing cool air. Standing at Ninh Kieu quay, tourists can see Can Tho Bridge- a cable-stayed bridge with the longest main span in the Southeast Asia at the time of completion (April 2010). In the park, there is the bronze statue of President Ho Chi Minh with 7,2m high, on the pedestal of 3.6 m high, with the weight of over 12 tons. Le Loi Street along the edge of the river is currently Hai Ba Trung Street which has been already planned to be a walking street and the first night market in Can Tho. Here, a range of different items is sold in each 100 meters such as food, fruits, souvenirs...

To completely feel the beauty of the West River area, visitors coming to Can Tho should not miss an opportunity to cruise experience at Ninh Kieu Quay. Every night, from 19h to 21h boat excursions will take visitors along Hau River, and visitors can enjoy specialties and unique musical South characterized repertoires.
