Long Tuyen Ancient Village is 5 kilometers from the center of Can Tho City. In the past, it belonged to “Luc Ap” (Six Hamlets). In the reign of King Thieu Tri, it was renamed Binh Hung Village. In 1852, Province Chief Huynh Man Dat and his fleet of ships survived the storm in this region by entering Binh Thuy River. After this event, the village was renamed Binh Thuy. By the early 20th century, the village was once again renamed Long Tuyen. This was the hometown of Thu Khoa Bui Huu Nghia (the first award winner in the national exam).
