Conservation and enhancement of heritage linked to tourism development

The fundamental objective of the project for the conservation and enhancement of vestiges, historical sites, intangible cultural heritages, artisan villages, and landscapes, linked to tourism in the city of Can Tho, for the period 2021-2025, announced by the People Committee of Can Tho city.

This project aims to mobilize the whole of society in the restoration, management, and promotion of cultural heritage. The main task is to train the people working on the sites, to manage the festivals, and to protect the monuments. During the period 2021-2025, the work consists of completing the planning, carrying out the planned investments, restoring the monuments on time, especially those that are at risk of deterioration. The city of Can Tho is also focusing on the realization of the project “Conservation and enhancement of the intangible cultural heritage of the City of Can Tho in the period 2021-2025, towards 2030”. The importance of propaganda and the promotion of the intangible heritage of the city contributes to the promotion of tourist products typical of these sites.

In order to boost craft villages for tourism, they must be made attractive to travel agencies and tourists. In addition to investment and improvement of infrastructure, training in tourism skills will also be strengthened. The City of Can Tho will further ensure public safety, environmental cleanliness, food safety and will support those concerned to preserve their heritage intact.
