Visit to Can Tho in the Flood Season

Where to Visit?

Cai Rang Floating Market is the most famous place to visit in Can Tho City. It is open from 5 am to 9 am each day. Products on sale are mainly agricultural ones.

Bang Lang Stork Sanctuary is among the famous natural ones in the Mekong River Delta. This is an ideal place for you to explore the life of various birds.

Ninh Kieu Wharf along Hau River is a nice place where you can take a boat ride while enjoying Tài tử music.

Other places for you to explore are Binh Thuy Ancient House, built in Asian-European architecture by the Duong family in 1870; orchards like Vam Xang, Con Au, Giao Duong, My Thom, My Khanh, Vu binh, My Thuan….

Try various kinds of traditional cakes such as Vietnamese cylindric glutinous rice cake (bánh tét), crepe (bánh xèo), pancake (bánh khọt), shrimp patties (bánh cóng), Vietnamese deep-fried cake (bánh cam), chendol (bánh lọt), Vietnamese flan (bánh gan), Vietnamese pork and shrimp dumplings (bánh quai vạc), layers of clouds cake (bánh da lợn)… You can also try dishes popular in the flood season such as ovata mangrove fruit hotpot (lẩu bần), fermented fish hotpot (lẩu mắm), braised duck with pickled tofu hotpot and taro (lẩu vịt nấu chao), grilled snails with pepper (ốc nướng tiêu), grilled snakehead fish (cá lóc nướng trui), roasted mouse (chuột quay lu), dried snakehead fish mixed with jew plum (gỏi cóc khô cá lóc), shrimp and pork mixed with jar of coconut roots (gỏi củ hủ dừa tôm thịt), and other dishes from linh fish and sesban flower (bông điên điển).
