Photo exhibition on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle opens in Can Tho Museum

On the morning of April 2nd, the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition “study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle” takes place at Can Tho Museum. Besides, there are also displays of “Vietnamese folk paintings” and "The impression of ancient culture" as well as the announcement of the decision to recognize 2 local artifacts as national treasures. Present at the opening ceremony are the former leaders of Can Tho City, representatives of the local administrative departments and a large number of students as well as visitors.

The exhibition, organized by Can Tho City Museum and Ho Chi Minh Museum - Ho Chi Minh branch, features nearly 200 precious photos and documents, including many writings of President Ho Chi Minh, which are one of the priceless legacies that he left for the Vietnamese people.

Mr. Tran Viet Phuong, Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Can Tho, is delivering an opening speech at the photo exhibition.

"Vietnamese Folk Paintings" hosted by Can Tho City Museum in collaboration with Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, displays 26 typical folk paintings. This is a selected collection of Vietnam Fine Arts Museum to introduce viewers several unique folk paintings like Dong Ho (Bac Ninh), Hang Trong (Hanoi), Kim Hoang (Ha Tay), Sinh Village (Thua Thien Hue), Doc Loi (Nghe An), Vu Di (Vinh Phuc), etc.

Besides, Can Tho Museum also cooperates with collectors from Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Thuan province introduce the thematic display "The impression of ancient culture" with more than 300 photos, materials and artifacts of three ancient cultures namely Dong Son, Sa Huynh and Oc Eo representing the North, Central and South regions of the country. Through the exhibition, viewers can better understand the material and spiritual life of the Vietnamese people from the beginning of building the country up to now.

On this occasion, Mr. Pham Dinh Phong - Deputy Director of the Cultural Heritage Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) announced Decision No. 1821 dated December 24th, 2018 of the Prime Minister on the recognition of two artifacts in Can Tho city as national treasures. Those are Nhon Thanh Buddha statue and Nhon Thanh pottery water pot currently kept at Can Tho Museum. These two valuable, important items, with high aesthetic values belong to Oc Eo Culture, demonstrating a period of brilliant development of the Mekong Delta region in particular and the Southern region in general.

Visitors are studying “the impression of ancient culture”

The photo exhibition on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle is a practical activity in respond to major events taking place in April and May such as Hung Kings Commemoration Day, (April 15th), 44th Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2019), the International Worker’s Day (May 1st) and the 129th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19th). The exhibition will run until May 25th, 2019; as for the thematic display, it will serve visitors until August 15th, 2019.
