These recognized intangible cultural heritages are divided into the five categories of traditional handicrafts, traditional festivals, folklore art, social practices and beliefs, and folklore knowledge. Specifically, the folklore art “Lullaby singing in Cần Thơ city” has been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in this new list.

Additionally, Bạc Liêu and Sóc Trăng are also the two provinces in the Mekong Delta region appearing in the list of the national intangible cultural heritages this time. Particularly, they are the salt-making craft in Bạc Liêu province (Vĩnh Hậu Commune, Vĩnh Thịnh Commune, Hòa Bình District; Long Điền Đông Commune, Điền Hải Commune, Long Điền Tây Commune, Đông Hải District, Bạc Liêu Province) and the Pía cake-making craft (Phú Tâm Commune, Thuận Hòa Commune, An Hiệp Commune in Châu Thành District, Sóc Trăng Province).

On that basis, the authorities at all levels in localities where intangible cultural heritages are located are responsible for the management of the heritages within the scope of their duties and in accordance with the law and regulations on cultural heritages.

So far, apart from “Lullaby singing in Cần Thơ city”, there are four other cultural heritages in Cần Thơ city that have been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, including Hò Cần Thơ (Cần Thơ chanting), Ðờn ca tài tử (Southern folk music), Cái Răng Floating Market, Kỳ Yên festival in Bình Thủy Temple.
