Vietnamese cuisine earns five world records

The World Records Union (WorldKings) has recognized five Vietnamese culinary world records.
Vietnam is the country that has the most dishes made from rice flour in the world.

The World Records Union (WorldKings) has officially recognized five Vietnamese culinary world records. The decision was based on nominations by the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) earlier this year.

Photos and details of Vietnamese dishes will be updated in the global media as soon as possible. This event is expected to promote Vietnamese cuisine in the eyes of gourmets around the world and attract tourists to Vietnam after the pandemic.

Firstly, Vietnam is the country that owns the most attractive fiber dishes and water dishes in the world (Including 164 dishes and still being updated). Although located next to the culinary powerhouses such as Thailand or China, Vietnam is still proud of its heritage of vermicelli, phở, noodles, rice noodles ... with the most variations.

Besides rice, the most popular daily meals of Vietnamese people are fiber dishes, each region from the North to the South of Vietnam has countless variations with its distinctive characteristics. Some typical dishes are phở bò (beef phở), bún ốc (snail vermicelli soup), bún thang (Hanoi noodle soup with ham, chicken, and shrimp), bánh canh chả cá (Vietnamese rice noodle soup with fish cake), bún bò Huế (Hue-style beef noodle soup), hủ tíu Nam Vang (shrimp and pork chop noodle soup or Phnom-Penh clear rice noodle soup), bún cua thối Pleiku (Pleiku fermented crab noodles), etc.

Secondly, Vietnam is also acknowledged as the country with the most kinds of “mắm” (salted fish) and dishes made from “mắm” with typical favors in the world (100 dishes and more). Vietnamese dishes made from “mắm” have a special taste and hold an important position in the daily meal. Rarely does a traditional Vietnamese meal lack a bowl of fish sauce.

The famous dishes make from “mắm” are fish sauce, fermented shrimp paste, sour shrimp paste, ba khía paste (a salted paste made of Sesarma Mederi),… The most popular dish made from “mắm” is “bún đậu mắm tôm” (rice noodles with fried tofu and fermented shrimp paste). The dish is a combination of bundles of thin rice noodles, crispy fried tofu, herbs. This dish becomes even more delicious when being eaten a sauce of shrimp paste, lemon, and chili.

Thirdly, the Southeast Asian country is the country with the most dishes made from flowers in the world (Including 272 dishes made from 43 different flowers and still being updated)

Some typical dishes from flowers such as cơm lá sen (sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf), hoa thiên lý xào thịt bò (stir-fried Tonkin jasmine flower with beef), nộm hoa chuối (banana blossom salad), bông bí xào tỏi (stir-fried squash blossoms with garlic), lẩu bông điên điển (hot pot of Sesbania sesban flowers and seafood)... These flowers are all fresh, sweet, or sour and suitable for making soups or stir-fried dishes.

Fourthly, Perhaps not surprisingly, Vietnam continues to hold the record for the most kinds of special roll in the world (Including 103 dishes and continuing to be updated). Vietnam is even known as the paradise of spring rolls, fried spring rolls, rice paper rolls, phở rolls ...

This dish is often eaten with lots of fresh vegetables and chili garlic sweet and sour fish sauce. In addition to crispy spring rolls and spring rolls, Hanoi's phở roll and “bánh ướt thịt nướng” (Southern steamed rice paper with grilled pork) are also popular with foreigners.

Finally, Vietnam is the country that has the most attractive dishes made from rice flour in the world (Including 100 dishes and continuing to be updated). Specifically, 143 dishes are recorded with all kinds of sweet and savory flavors together with unique cooking styles, typical for each locality.

Hue is representative with many delicious dishes made from rice flour such as bánh bèo (Bloating Fern-shaped cake), bánh nậm (flat rice flour dumpling), bánh ram ít (fried sticky rice dumplings) ... These cakes are small and beautiful, wrapped, or displayed on a banana leaf. Other dishes are also very famous such as bánh rán lúc lắc (fried cake balls), bánh ít lá gai (Ramie leaf mung bean glutinous rice cake), bánh giò (pyramid-shaped glutinous rice cake), bánh đúc (steamed rice cake with toppings)... are traditional dishes from many generations.
