At the meeting, Mr. Duong Tan Hien - Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi to Can Tho city. On this occasion, Mr. Duong Tan Hien introduced the strengths and potentials of Can Tho city as well as the opportunities for cooperation between the two sides in several fields namely agriculture, food processing, fisheries, pharmaceuticals, mechanics, garments, construction materials, trade - services, etc. Permanent Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Duong Tan Hien said that the bilateral cooperation between Can Tho and India had achieved positive results with many meaningful activities and effective projects.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien added that Can Tho wants to expand its cooperation with India in health care, especially building modern hospitals. The city also expects to work with the country in education, with student exchange programs, and building a concentrated information technology park and logistics center in the Mekong Delta. In high-tech agriculture, the city also looks to partner with India in projects to develop the production of high-quality plants and aquatic products, rice cultivation, and high-tech agriculture, in combination with ecological tourism in the district of Vinh Thanh.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien hopes that Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi as the Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City will support Can Tho and introduce to Indian investors on fields and projects which Can Tho city is calling for investment.

Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi - Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City thanked the warm welcome of Can Tho city’s leaders. He highly appreciated the development potential of Can Tho city and wished to boost bilateral ties across education, health care, and information technology. Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi said that he would introduce to Indian investors about promotion programs and projects that Can Tho city is calling for investment after this visit. He also believed that the cooperation relationship between the two countries would be increasingly tightened after the COVID-19 pandemic. 

According to the plan, there will be an online seminar between Indian enterprises and Can Tho city to promote trade, exchange, cooperation in key industries, potential cooperation programs, bilateral import, and export.
