The festival is organized in response to the World Tourism Day 27/9 by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho city in cooperation with People's Committee of Phong Dien District. Furthermore, its purpose is to promote the potential of eco-tourism as well as introducing the specialties of Phong Dien district in particular and Can Tho city in general to domestic and foreign tourists.

Within the framework of the 7^th Phong Dien - Can Tho eco-tourism festival, there will be many exciting activities such as the opening ceremony; “making art from fruit” contest; reproduce floating market model in combination with organizing tours to Phong Dien floating market and typical tourist destinations; perform Southern amateur music (Don ca tai tu) as well as quan ho Bac Ninh (Bac Ninh folk songs); traditional cake and delicious food contest; start the village market "Southern Vietnam, now and then"; parades and vehicles demonstrations; sports competitions, etc.
