This is a meaningful cultural activity to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the Vietnam’s August Revolution (19/8/1945 - 19/8/2017), the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2/9/1945 - 2/9/2017).
The “The South of Vietnam in the past” exhibition includes 239 photos reflecting on the structure of transportation system, urban area, life and activities of the Southern people in the early twentieth century, mainly under the French colonial era, of which 120 photos of provinces in the Southeast and 119 photos of the southwest were reused from the “Mekong Delta in the past” exhibition.
The exhibition also introduced 560 printed documents and 600 data documents on the contents included: ideas, ethics and styles of Ho Chi Minh; cultural and national identity of Vietnam; the formation and development of the South in the past, present and future orientation.
In addition, the exhibition displayed two stamp collections entitled “The Revolutionary Life of Ho Chi Minh” and “Vietnam’s Revolution - a historic stage” with a total of nearly 500 postage stamps which was collected by Can Tho Library.
Through the exhibition, visitors have a chance to look back on the past, understand and have a strong attachment to their homeland and help their friends in and out of the country have an useful knowledge about the special culture of the South in general and Can Tho in particular.
The exhibition takes place from August 18th to the end of September 30th 2017.
