COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control at museums, historical-cultural relics, and tourist attractions

The Agency of Cultural Heritage has issued document No. 271/DSVH-DT to the Museums in the Vietnamese museum system; Management boards of historical relics and tourist attractions; Centers for World Heritage Management on implementation of COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures at museums, historical and cultural relics and landscapes.

Accordingly, the Department of Cultural Heritage recommends agencies and units to coordinate with local authorities at all levels to take measures to ensure safety for tourists visiting museums, historical and cultural relics, tourist attractions. Strictly implement the Prime Minister's Directive No. 19 / CT-TTg of April 24th, 2020 on continuing to implement and comply with all measures for prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic.

Depending on the actual situation, at museums, historical-cultural relics, and landscapes, there will be disinfectant products, hand-washing areas with soap or detergent available for visitors following the current regulations on COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control. Moreover, there will be measures to monitor and remind visitors of health instructions and ensure adequate equipment for cleaning and disinfecting at museums, historical-cultural relics, and landscapes.

Masks and body temperature check-up are recommended for officials, workers, visitors before entering museums, historical-cultural relics, and landscapes. In addition, surfaces of display areas, working areas are regularly cleaned and disinfected under the current regulations on COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control. The ventilation in the sightseeing area, display area, ticket booth, service area, and place of worship must be ensured. The process of organizing, receiving, and guiding visitors are set up to ensure social distancing protocols.

Based on regular recommendations for prevention and control of COVID 19 pandemic on the Ministry of Health's portal, the management boards of relics should promote propaganda and set up systems for the safety of visitors and staff at museums, historical-cultural relics, and tourist attractions as well as strictly handling violations (if necessary).

The Agency for Cultural Heritage also recommends the management boards of museums, historical-cultural relics, and tourist attractions to enhance the management, ensure security and safety for tourists, timely evaluate the results of pandemic prevention and propose solutions to the local Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
