Guideline on prevention and control of COVID-19, ensuring safety at travel companies, tourist accommodation establishments

The General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Nguyen Trung Khanh has just signed a decision to promulgate Instructions on measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring safety at travel companies, resorts, tourist attractions, and tourist accommodation establishments.

According to the Guideline, tour operators, travel companies, tourist destinations, tourist accommodation establishments as well as tourists, officials, tour guides, staff, and suppliers, etc. must strictly implement measures to prevent and control COVID-19 pandemic; prevent the pandemic from spreading in the community but still ensure the quality of tourism services.

Particularly, regulations on prevention and control COVID-19 pandemic are disseminated to officials, tour guides, employees in travel companies, tourist destinations, tourist accommodation establishments. Moreover, the guideline is posted on the notice board at the reception, public areas, service areas, and in the guest rooms. Reception areas, doors, and walkways are properly arranged to ensure social spacing under the guidance of the Ministry of Health. All visitors, staff members, and suppliers are required to have body temperature checked. Face masks are also available for visitors when needed ...

Tourist companies only reopen when they can ensure social distancing according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health. If social distancing is not guaranteed at tourist accommodation establishments, meals will be served in the guests' rooms, and the room is not allowed to have many guests. Other measures are making a health monitoring notebook for each official, tour guide, and employee; taking employees' temperature upon arrival at work, if they show symptoms of infection or come from an infected area, they are allowed to stay home from work and manage their symptoms at home. Additionally, officials, tour guides, and staff members must regularly wear facemasks, keep social distance, and wash hands properly. For tourist accommodation establishments, room staff must wear gloves while working.

For tourists, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism recommends that they take preventive measures under the guidance of the medical agency and follow the arrangements of travel service providers to ensure social distancing.

Besides, visitors are required to wear a facemask when eating and drinking at restaurants and bars, except in their bedrooms. Other recommendations are not to share personal items such as cups, water bottles, towels, etc. often wash your hands properly and maintain a good attitude when working with the local authorities and tourism service establishments; report to the local authorities if symptoms of COVID-19 infection appear after leaving the tourist facility.
