This event is part of a series of seminars that attract many experts, travel companies, and authorities in the tourism industry to exchange information, find solutions, and come up with initiatives for safe tourism in the current normal state. These solutions are expected to be put into practice to develop safe tourism across the country.

At the seminar, representatives of the Saigon Times introduced the program “Initiatives for a safe destination”. Accordingly, this program encourages participants to voluntarily apply “the set of criteria for assessing a safe destination in disease prevention”, to promote the development of the safe tourism industry in the current normal state. Through the program, participants contribute ideas to develop the tourism market and issues related to the tourism industry, business environment, criterion, green standards, safety standards, and environmental protection, the capacity to cope with risks caused by the pandemic.

The program provides members with knowledge and information useful for business, brand promotion, building green - safe standards. When participating in the program, members will receive a certificate titled “Safe Destination”.

Additionally, the speakers presented the implementation of tourism safety criteria of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho city; the demand for safe tourism and cooperation to implement safe tourism program in the Mekong Delta and safe tourism solutions for tourists of travel companies.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city, said that besides implementing safety criteria, we need to build new products and renovate old ones. We should also offer promotions, additional services to improve service quality. This will have a positive effect, in order to soon recover Can Tho tourism. Mr. Duong Tan Hien hoped that tourism businesses will actively participate in the tourism stimulus program of Can Tho city from now until 31/01/2021. He believed that Vietnam will become an ideal destination for international tourists when the Government allows the reopening of international flights since our country has an advantage in controlling epidemics well and the domestic activities have shown signs of recovery in a new normal period. Moreover, he hoped that the workshop will gain many important results as a premise to create many solutions and opportunities for the tourism industry in Can Tho in particular and the whole country in general, to soon recover and grow again.
