Cambodian Cultural Week Opening in Can Tho City in 2019

On the evening of November 19th, 2019, the Opening Ceremony of Cambodian Cultural Week in Can Tho City with special art performances takes place at the Conference Hall of Performance Department, Military Region 9 (153 Tran Quang Dieu Street, An Thoi Ward, Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City).

The event jointly organized by Ministry of Culture and Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia; Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Can Tho City People’s Committee aims to introduce the rich and diverse culture of Cambodia via performing arts, photo exhibitions and cultural artifacts to Vietnamese public, particularly locals in the Mekong Delta.

At the opening ceremony, Ms. Menh Kossony – Minister of Culture and Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia says that this is the first time the Cambodian Cultural Week is organized in Can Tho City. She states that this important programme is under the “Agreement on Cultural and Artistic Cooperation Between the Ministry of Culture and Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the period 2018 - 2022”. This cultural event creates opportunities for Vietnamese people to better understand Cambodian people and country, bringing the traditional cultural links between the two countries, as well as upgrading their cooperative relationship to a new higher level.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tạ Quang Đông – Deputy Minister of Vietnamese Culture, Sports and Tourism, shares his joy as witnessing the good development of cooperation in various fields between the two countries which have brought many practical benefits to their people. He believes that this event is practical and serves as an active drive in enhancing the mutual friendly and neighborly relations, and that such cooperation is developing sustainably.
