The city’s “Mộc quán - Nguyễn Trọng Quyền” singing festival 2018 organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism aims to restore the “Mộc quán - Nguyễn Trọng Quyền” singing contest which repeatedly took place in Can Tho city in the period 2002 - 2008. The festival aims to contribute to the preservation and promotion of the traditional art of the Đờn ca tài tử Nam bộ (Southern Amateur music) and Cải Lương (reformed theater). Moreover, the show also honors late composer Moc Quan - Nguyen Trong Quyen who is the pioneering composer of Can Tho city. "Hậu Tổ" (The father of Cai Luong) has many major contributions to improve the art of Cai Luong in the city in particular and the Southern region in general.
