From March 2020, international tourism has been delayed due to the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Government of Vietnam has introduced many stimulus packages and reformed administrative procedures to create favorable conditions for professionals and investors to work, invest, and seek opportunities for cooperation in Vietnam.

Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) stated that tourism has always been identified as an important economic sector of Vietnam. In 2019, Vietnam welcomed more than 18 million international tourists and 85 million domestic visitors. The tourism industry contributes about 4 million jobs and 32.8 billion USD to the national economy of Vietnam, equivalent to 9.2% of GDP.
