Can Tho welcomed nearly 3.7 million visitors in the first 4 months of 2019

According to the report from Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first 4 months of 2019, Can Tho welcomed nearly 3.7 million visitors, moving up by 5.6% over the same period last year and reaching 43.5% of the annual plan. In terms of the accommodation sector, Can Tho welcomed nearly 1.1 million visitors, moving up by 11% over the same period in 2018, reaching 37.3% of the yearly plan. Particularly, the international visitors reached about 132,000 arrivals, an increase of 8.6% over the same period in 2018 as well as reaching 33.8% of the year’s plan. The total revenue from tourism was 1,674 billion VND, increasing by 14.3% over the same period last year and reaching 39.9% of the annual plan.

Several key tasks that the tourism industry has to carry out in the upcoming time are: review the preparation and supervision of the implementation progress of the coordination plan for organizing Can Tho international tourism fairs in 2019; assist Can Tho city People's Committee to approve the Tourism Development Project of Tan Loc ward in Thot Not district; coordinate with Thot Not District People's Committee to organize Tan Loc Fruit Garden Festival in 2019; implement the construction and development plan of Can Tho river tourism products in 2019; announce and award the contest of designing Can Tho souvenirs and tourism gifts; receive the contest entries from the Can Tho Cruise ship decorating competition; implement the cooperation program to develop tourism with provinces as well as cities domestically and internationally in accordance with Can Tho city’s tourism project after being approved by Can Tho city People's Committee.
