Mekong Delta has 5 more leading tourist attractions

The judging panel for "Leading tourist destinations in the Mekong Delta 2019" under the Mekong Delta Tourism Association has decided to select 5 new tourist spots and re-recognize 5 "Leading tourist destinations in the Mekong Delta". They are: Phuong Nam Cultural Tourism Area (Dong Thap Province), Ben Tre Riverside Resort (Ben Tre Province), Viet Uc Hotel (Ben Tre), TTC Floating Restaurant (Ben Tre), Ong De Ecotourism Village (Can Tho). 5 re-recognized tourist destinations in the Mekong Delta are: Van Huong Mai Resort (An Giang), Gao Giong Ecotourism Area and Xeo Quyt Relic Site (Dong Thap), Ham Luong Hotel (Ben Tre), Mui Nai - Ha Tien tourist area (Kien Giang). These 5 tourist spots were selected 3 years ago (the time for evaluation and re-selection of Mekong Delta top tourist sites is 3 years from the last time they were recognized as such).

The criteria for selecting "Leading tourist destinations in the Mekong Delta": The applicant must be a member of the Mekong Delta Tourism Association. The applicant must have a business registration certificate and must not be sanctioned for administrative violations within 12 months. Moreover, that firm/agency has to actively participate in tourism promotion activities, proposed by the local Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at the local and at the Mekong Delta Tourism Association.

For complex tourist sites, they must have an area of 2 hectares or more and the number of annual visitors is at least 100,000. Complex tourist spots must also have at least 10 types of services, with certification of fire safety, security, food safety and hygiene. Additionally, these complex tourist spots must have environmental protection schemes and tour guides who have been trained under the provisions of the Tourism Law, etc. As for cultural, historical, spiritual and ecological tourist destinations, they must have an annual number of 30,000 visitors or more. Moreover, their conditional business lines must comply with the provisions of law and they must have trained tour guides. For resorts and accommodations with 3 stars or above, the average occupancy rate must be 70% or more, conditional goods and services must comply with provisions of law... For other tourist sites such as traditional craft villages, processing plants, food establishments, etc. they must have an annual number of 30,000 visitors or more. The food establishments must reach a minimum turnover of VND 5 billion/year and their conditional business lines must comply with the provisions of law.

Currently, there are 47 leading tourist destinations, selected by the Mekong Delta Tourism Association, in the Mekong Delta region.
