At the meeting, Mr. Leonardo Rosario Manuel Pene thanked the warm welcome of Can Tho city leaders and affirmed that the Mozambican government always values the bilateral cooperation with Vietnam. During this visit, the Ambassador said that in the foreseeable future, the Mozambican government will promote cooperation in four fields of agriculture, infrastructure, energy and tourism among which agriculture is their first priority. Since Can Tho city and Mozambique share many similarities in terms of natural conditions for agricultural development, the ambassador proposed to establish a cooperative relationship between the town of Boane (Mozambique) and Can Tho city (Vietnam). As a result, this will strengthen the bilateral relations between Mozambique - Vietnam in general and Mozambique - Can Tho city in particular.

Mrs. Vice Chairman of Can Tho city’s People's Committee highly appreciated the idea of town twining with Boane. Besides Agriculture, Mrs. Vo Thi Hong Anh said Can Tho has many potentials to develop in other areas such as processing, agricultural and aquatic products export, water transport, education and training, etc. Furthermore, tourism is also a crucial area of ​​ the city’s economic development. As Can Tho has just opened 2 more international airline routes, Mrs. Vo Thi Hong Anh hoped to have flights bringing tourists from Can Tho to Mozambique and vice versa. This is also a premise for town twinning as well as an opportunity for cultural exchange, education and technology transfer to expand cooperation between the two localities. Conclude the meeting, Mrs. Vo Thi Hong Anh hoped that the connection between Can Tho and Boane will benefit each locality and bring the bilateral cooperation between Mozambique and Vietnam to a new level.
