On February 18th, the People's Committee of Can Tho city issued a plan to implement key tasks in the conservation and development of the floating market of Cai Rang in 2021.

Under this plan, the People's Committee of Cai Rang district will carry out a survey on the number of households living on the floating market, the demand for electricity, clean water, toilets, and other essential conditions to find solutions to support merchants and local people at Cai Rang floating market.

Besides, the local authorities of Cai Rang will review investment projects in order to propose effective solutions to attract investors and tourists.

Meanwhile, the Department of Culture - Sports, and Tourism will coordinate with the Bank for Social Policies of Can Tho city to offer financing for merchants through loans, as well as establishing several new, unique tourist spots to attract visitors.

The municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will create favorable conditions for local artisans, floriculturists, together with agro-commodity traders to work and trade at Cai Rang floating market. Moreover, this agency will also open a booth to promote and sell OCOP products of the city at Cai Rang floating market.

According to the Steering Committee for tourism development of Can Tho city, after four years of implementing the project on conservation and development of the floating market of Cai Rang, the number of tourist boats and travels to this area is constantly increasing.

The number of tourists traveling to the floating market increased by 12-15%. Tourism products and services at the floating market were strongly developed, diversified, and plentiful, thus meeting the needs of visitors.
