Can Tho has 3 more representative tourist attractions at the municipal level

Recently, Can Tho City Tourism Association has issued a decision to recognize 3 more representative tourist destinations at the municipal level, bringing the total to 13 destinations.

Gian Gua Historical Relic, Ong De Ecotourism Village and Chin Hong Tourist Garden are recognized as 3 representative tourist attractions at the municipal level in 2018. According to the voting board, 3 tourist destinations above meet and exceed the criteria for the number of visitors, the use of annual accommodation services; tour presenters at the each destination; ratings from 2 stars or more; trading goods and services for tourists; 80% or more management staff undergo training at all levels, etc.

Gian Gua historical relic

About 14 km away from the center of Can Tho city, Gian Gua (Malayan Banyan) historical relic is located in Nhon Khanh hamlet, Nhon Nghia commune, Phong Dien district. Gian Gua is over 100 years old and recognized by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment as a National Heritage Tree. Malayan Banyan is a typical tree in the wetland area of ​​the Mekong Delta region, associated with the history of reclaiming and fighting against foreign invasion of Phong Dien district. Gian Gua is also a representative natural ecological area in Can Tho City. In addition to the pristine beauty, Gian Gua with winding branches, twisting together like giant pythons, has formed wide, shady tree canopies that bring a comfortable, peaceful, cool and fresh atmosphere. Gian Gua is approved as a city-level historic site by the Can Tho City People's Committee on April 5th, 2013.

Ong De ecotourism village

About 10km from Can Tho city center, Ong De ecotourism village is located on Nguyen Van Cu road, next to Ong De rivulet, My Ai hamlet, My Khanh commune, Phong Dien district. Ong De ecotourism village is about 2.5 hectares wide. Coming here, visitors can enjoy the atmosphere of the Western region, green trees, attractive dishes and countless unique folk games. Ong De is covered by the green space of many green trees, cottages, homestays, lotus pond and water lilies miniatures, as well as many kinds of ornamental flowers that are displayed throughout the aisles. It is especially attractive to the young people that the folk games here are extremely diverse: cycling through the ditch, keeping balance on the Areca Palm to cross the ditch, ditch crossing on a rope bridge, rowing, net fishing, draining ditches for fish, one day being a farmer, exciting team games of shaking and swinging bridge, etc. In here, visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of country delicacies such as “bánh xèo” (Vietnamese sizzling cake), grilled snakehead fish, caramelized “Vồ Đém” fish with bush Grape (Pangasius larnaudii, hotpot with fermented fish and so on.

Chin Hong tourist garden

Traveling to Can Tho, visitors certainly cannot ignore the fruitful orchards as well as the cool and fresh air of the countryside where they can leisurely stroll in many large shady gardens to enjoy delicious fruits. Only 15km from Can Tho city center and 300m from Truc Lam Phuong Nam Zen monastery, visitors can easily visit Chin Hong tourist garden to freely pick and enjoy various fruits such as Burmese grape, mango, mangosteen, rambutan and star apple, etc. However, depending on the time of the year there will be different types of fruits, visitors should contact the garden owner in advance to travel in the fruit season that they love. Besides, visitors can participate in interesting activities of the Southern region such as rowing, catching fish and enjoying traditional dishes such as grilled snakehead fish, “bánh xèo” (Vietnamese sizzling cake), and especially the glutinous rice cake stuffed with musk-duck meat.
