This event is to find and promote delicious food and specialties of Vietnam, with the following criteria: unique, novel, typical of each locality. After reviewing the nominations submitted by each locality, the Organizing Committee selected and announced the results. Accordingly, 2 special dishes and 2 signature gifts from each province and city will be recognized and honored.

At the top of the special dishes, Can Tho city has two on the list, which are “ốc bươu nướng tiêu xanh” (grilled snail with peppers) and “gà um dâu Hạ Châu” (braised chicken with Burmese grape). These two delicious dishes are popualr and easy to find in restaurants and eateries when traveling to Can Tho.

The most typical dish is “gà um dâu Hạ Châu”, with the natural sweetness from free-range chicken, the mild sourness of Ha Chau Burmese grape, along with the mix of spices, making the dish memorable.

On the list of signature gifts, Ha Chau Burmese and Sau Tia water apple wine are included in the honors list. Ha Chau Burmese is a specialty fruit in Can Tho city, especially in Phong Dien province.

Sau Tia water apple wine is distilled from water apples made by old farmer Nguyen Phu Tia (Sau Tia) on Tan Loc islet (Thot Not district). This product is very popular with tourists to buy as gifts when coming to Can Tho.

Honoring these specialties, and gifts not only contributes to preserving cultural values, and traditional cuisine, but also create attraction and develop local tourism.
