On December 17th, Mr. Duong Tan Hien, Pernament Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City and Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City attended the ceremony commemorating 6 years of establishment of Hoa Hao - Medic Can Tho General Hospital
The representatives performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Block C of the hospital.

Attendees also included Professor-Doctor Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health; Colonel Chiem Thong Nhat, Deputy Commander - Chief of Staff of 9th Military Region; leaders of the Department of Health of Can Tho City along with many leaders of hospitals in and outside the city.

Officially operational since December 23, 2017, the Hoa Hao - Medic Can Tho General Hospital has been evaluated by the Ministry of Health as one of the medical facilities meeting the conditions and standards for human resources, infrastructure, equipment, and modern service types in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region. The hospital has also made a positive impact on the local population and the healthcare system due to its professional service approach, top-quality services in the region, and activities aimed at community benefits. Currently, the Hoa Hao - Medic Can Tho General Hospital is capable of accommodating between 1,000 to 1,500 patients daily.

In 2018, in response to the increasing demand from the population for high-quality health check-ups, examinations, early detection of diseases, especially severe illnesses, the Hospital decided to establish and put into operation the Health Examination Center. To date, the Health Examination Center has conducted examinations, consultations, treatments, and care for over 80,000 individuals.

Professor Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, awarded the Ministry of Health's Commendation to the hospital.

In order to enhance the quality of examinations and consultations, the hospital proactively invited professors, doctors with many years of experience in management, operation, and medical examinations and treatment from central-level hospitals to collaborate, serving as advisors and directly providing medical examinations and consultations for patients. Furthermore, the hospital has invested in acquiring numerous modern equipment for the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Functional Studies, such as 3D and 4D ultrasound machines, elastic tissue ultrasound machines, low-radiation X-ray machines, 1.5 Tesla MRI machines, and 640 and 160 slice computed tomography scanners. Among these, the 640-slice computed tomography scanner is the only modern system in the Mekong Delta region, boasting several advantages in capturing and reconstructing images of the heart and brain's blood vessels and holds diagnostic value for narrow arteries and equivalent obstruction techniques like DSA.

After 6 years of operation, the hospital has received and treated 1,019,526 patients (64.0% covered by health insurance); handled 18,138 emergency cases; provided inpatient treatment for 3,094 individuals; conducted 40,565 requested examinations; performed health checks for units and individuals totaling 80,131 cases; carried out surgeries and procedures for 80,173 cases. It has timely identified and transferred many critical cases such as myocardial infarction, stroke, pulmonary embolism, and cancer for emergency treatment. Presently, the hospital has signed regular testing contracts with 21 public and private hospitals in the region.

Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Deputy Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, delivered a speech at the event.

In addition to its professional duties, the hospital consistently prioritizes and takes the lead in social welfare activities. Annually, the hospital organizes medical examinations, provides medicine, gifts, and scholarships, and builds goodwill houses for people in remote areas, revolutionary bases, and disadvantaged policy beneficiaries across provinces in the Mekong Delta region. Over the past 6 years, the hospital has conducted over 80 medical examination rounds, provided medicine to 11,145 individuals, offered policy gifts to 6,706 families, granted 460 scholarships to children from policy beneficiary families, and constructed 11 solidarity houses for veterans, policy beneficiary families, and impoverished households within the country and neighboring Cambodia, amounting to a total cost of over 26 billion VND.

Especially in 2023, alongside medical examinations and gift-giving activities in localities, as part of the Army-Civilian Tet activities and commemorating the 20th anniversary of Can Tho City's establishment directly under the Central Government, the hospital is leading the project 'Can Tho City Map - 20 Years of Construction, Development, and Integration,' covering an area of 165 square meters, made of rice, and registered for the Vietnam Record to promote the image of Can Tho City.

Additionally, it has made substantial contributions to community welfare and social activities within and beyond the borders of the country.
