Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien highly appreciated the role of the Khmer-Vietnam Association in Cambodia as the bridge between Vietnamese local authorities and the Vietnamese community in Cambodia.
Over the years, Can Tho city has supported and coordinated with the Cambodian side to organize many cultural and people-to-people exchange activities together with charity activities, including the provision of food, gifts, medical supplies, and medicines to locals in Cambodia and Vietnamese Cambodian people hit by COVID-19. At the same time, Can Tho has provided scholarships and created favorable conditions for Cambodian students to study in universities in the city
According to Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien, taking care of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia not only contributes to consolidating the great national unity block but also demonstrates the affection and responsibilities of the Party and State in caring for the Vietnamese community abroad while encouraging and creating conditions for them to contribute to national development.

At the reception, Chairman of the Khmer-Vietnam Association in Cambodia Sim Chy provided information on the current situation of Vietnamese-origin people in Cambodia and expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Government for having supported the organization as well as the Vietnamese-origin people in Cambodia over the years.
On this occasion, Chairman Sim Chy asked Can Tho City to financially support Kampong Chhnang province in the field of education for Vietnamese children in Cambodia such as relocating schools, granting scholarships, and providing materials for education.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien said that Can Tho authorities will strive to support Vietnamese communities in Cambodia. He then assigned relevant departments and agencies to study the suggestions of Chairman Sim Chy and advised Can Tho City’s leaders as soon as possible.
