According to senior advisor Lee Dong Uk, SK Group is supporting the Ministry of Planning and Investment to study green growth in Vietnam. Therefore, the Group focuses on exploring investment opportunities to pilot projects under Can Tho City’s green growth strategy as well as developing projects in the Mekong Delta.

Lee Dong Uk said the firm owns hydrogen production technologies, so it can produce clean and green energy. He also said that Can Tho City’s strategy to develop a thermal power facility center in O Mon is one of the factors prompting the group to map out a plan to invest in hydrogen production in the city. Therefore, he expects to receive support from Can Tho City to implement pilot projects under the city’s green growth strategy.

He added that SK group is planning to build an environment-friendly agricultural center, develop a real-time smart waste management system, trial clean hydrogen co-firing at O Mon Thermal Power Plant, pilot the application of hydrogen in power generation and green transport in Can Tho and deploy a pilot project of heavy-duty hydrogen-powered trucks in the coming time. Moreover, the SK Group is also eyeing zero waste projects along with the logistics center for linkage, production, processing, and consumption of agricultural products in the Mekong Delta.

Senior advisor Lee Dong Uk believed that these projects will boost a huge potential for green growth in Can Tho City. They will help Can Tho City to quickly achieve the goal of carbon neutrality and open up investment opportunities for Can Tho City from investors in the high-tech field not only of SK Group but also of other countries in the coming time.

Vice Chairman of the Can Tho People's Committee Duong Tan Hien highly agreed with SK Group on the application and development of hydrogen technology in Can Tho City. He also spoke highly of SK Group for its resources and experience in different business fields, especially in green economic development, and suggested the group invest in the Vinh Thanh Industrial Park project as a model of a green industrial park.

Aside from committing to creating favorable conditions for SK Group, Vice Chairman Duong Tan Hien also tasked the municipal departments and agencies with supporting the South Korean conglomerate to soon implement its projects.
