At the reception, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien introduced the potential of Can Tho City as the hub of the Mekong Delta region. Can Tho City also promotes the labor shift from agriculture to industry, trade, and services to meet the requirements of international integration and the fourth industrial revolution.

According to Can Tho Municipal Department of External Relations, Can Tho City earned 13.68 million USD from exporting goods to Germany in 2023, mostly rice, aquatic products, and fruit. Meanwhile, the city imported 0.24 million USD worth of goods from Germany, mainly pharmaceutical raw materials.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien said that Can Tho City is fully prepared to collaborate with the State of Saxony-Anhalt and the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to arrange exchange and cooperation programs to strengthen the bond between Can Tho City and its German partners.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien hopes that the delegation's visit will help to showcase Can Tho's potential, investment attraction policies, and image to business associations and investors. He also wishes to receive more business delegations from the State of Saxony-Anhalt to explore investment and trade promotion opportunities in Can Tho City.

Furthermore, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien also requested German partners to provide vocational training and scholarships for outstanding students and lecturers at universities and colleges in Can Tho City to expand their knowledge and improve their skills in the State of Saxony-Anhalt.

Mr. Herr Thomas Keindorf, Chairman of Halle City's Handicrafts Department in Saxony-Anhalt State, Germany, thanked Can Tho City leaders for the warm welcome and stated that the purpose of their trip to Can Tho City is to introduce opportunities for students to study and work in Germany through a selection and training program. After completing the program, the students will return and contribute to the development of their hometown. The trip also aims to promote development, improve the effectiveness and training quality in the system of vocational education institutions, and connect businesses between Can Tho City and German localities. These efforts will be directed towards developing strategic relationships, cultural exchanges, human resource training, trade connections, technical transfer, and investment attraction between Can Tho and localities in Germany.
