At the reception, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien briefed information on Can Tho city's strengths, potential and socio-economic development. In recent years, Can Tho city has identified India as a vital and strategic partner. Therefore, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho city in several areas is expected to be signed soon.

Moreover, a get-together will be held on September 29 evening in celebration of the 50th anniversary of India-Vietnam diplomatic ties. This meaningful event aimed to popularize the significance and importance of maintaining and consolidating the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between Vietnam and India to local people, especially the young generation.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien proposed cooperation with India in many fields, especially tourism, trade, and economy. He also wished to coordinate closely with the Indian Consulate General in organizing a wide range of economic and cultural cooperation activities and people-to-people exchanges.

On this occasion, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien invited Consul General Madan Mohan Sethi and Indian businesses and investors to attend the 2022 International Agricultural Fair, scheduled to be held in November 2022 in Can Tho City.

Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, thanked Can Tho city’s leaders for the warm welcome and expressed his desire to accelerate the two sides’ cooperation in the fields of mutual interest.
