Speaking at the forum, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien said that over the past years, along with promoting socio-economic development, maintaining political stability and social order and safety, local Party Committees, authorities, families, schools, and society have strived to create favorable conditions for children to be cared for, study and enjoy a healthy, safe and friendly environment. Due attention has been paid to children with difficult circumstances, helping fully realize children's rights, especially the ones to take part in children's affairs, he said.

Through the forum, children can contribute ideas and voice their aspirations on issues related to them, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien said, adding that municipal leaders will continue to direct agencies to create favorable conditions for the children in the coming time.

At the Forum, the children divided into 4 groups to discuss “hot” topics, such as children's participation in the prevention and control of violence and abuse of children; children's participation in child drowning prevention and control; children's participation in the child protection online; children's participation in disease prevention and control.

During the forum, participants raised several questions and opinions on issues such as measures to prevent dengue fever, drowning; solutions to prevent school violence and comprehensive measures against abuse of children; solutions to improve the effectiveness of dissemination and education on the Law on Children; methods to raise children's awareness and self-protection skills and how to help kids access the Internet properly were also touched upon.

Representatives of municipal leaders answered questions and provided useful information on the areas of interest to a large number of delegates.

Director of Can Tho Municipal Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs Tran Thi Xuan Mai stressed the children conveyed their ideas on their matters of interest through theatrical performances, skits, and presentations.
