Can Tho hosted a running race to support the disables in 2023

On the morning of December 17, Can Tho Municipal Association of Persons with Disabilities hosted a walking and running tournament with people with disabilities at Can Tho City High School for gifted sports and exercises.
The competition attracted over 1,500 people and disabled athletes in Can Tho.

The opening ceremony had the participation of Deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations Truong Quang Hoai Nam; President of the Viet Nam Federation on Disability; Permanent Vice Chairman of Can Tho Municipal People's Committee Duong Tan Hien and more than 1,500 people and disabled athletes representing departments, agencies, organizations in Can Tho City.

This community event aims to encourage people to improve their health and motivate the disabled to integrate into the community. Moreover, it also celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3rd) and the 20th anniversary of Can Tho becoming a centrally-run city (2004 - 2024). Through this event, the Organizing Committee hopes to raise funds to support the people with disabilities in Can Tho City.

President of Can Tho Municipal Association of Persons with Disabilities Huynh Ngoc Hong Nhung said the running race is a beautiful picture where every step represents connection, understanding, and integration. Through participating in the running race, people with disabilities can have great experiences, feel companionship, and share with the community. The event also celebrates the 20th anniversary of Can Tho becoming a centrally-run city (2004 - 2024). During those two decades, Can Tho City has developed significantly, achieved innovations in economics, culture, and education, and created favorable conditions for people with disabilities to integrate into society.

In the group for people with disabilities, the First, Second, and Third prizes for men (2km distance) went to athletes Huynh Quoc Trung, Vo Khai Tu, and Nguyen Hoang Vu, respectively. As for women, athletes Phan Thi Nga, On Thi Hong Nhan, and Huynh Ngoc Hong Nhung won first, second, and third prizes, respectively.

In the group for able-bodied athletes (5km distance), the First, Second, and Third prizes for men went to athletes Nguyen Van Thanh, Nguyen Hoang Nam, and Nguyen Hong Nam, respectively. As for women, athletes Le Thi Anh Hong, Pham Thi Be Tam, and Lam Ngoc Khuyen won first, second, and third prizes, respectively.
