Dao Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, said that the exhibition “Beautiful and Peaceful Seas and Islands of Vietnam” displays 70 photos about the history and sovereignty of the country over sea and islands in the East Sea (aka the South China Sea); their position and role in terms of politics, socio-economy, defense, and security; and meaningful activities held by the nation in general and Can Tho City in particular towards the national sea and islands. Via the exhibition, the organizing panel hopes to raise awareness, national pride, and responsibility of the community, especially the young generation in managing, conserving, and promoting the values of sea and islands; honor the contribution of forefathers and soldiers on duty at sea and on islands; and highlight the support of local people and international friends in this work.

At the same time, Can Tho Museum has also opened another thematic display “Old Sounds” to present over 180 photos, documents, and items on sounds in daily life and national resistance wars. Sound has become an effective weapon of the Party, State, and people on the cultural and ideological fronts. Moreover, it has contributed to the victory of the Vietnamese revolution and the success of national renewal, industrialization, and modernization.
