"The Colors of Spring in the Garden Land" program is an annual event held at Can Tho Museum. Its purpose is to help preserve and promote the diverse local cultural heritage, while also bringing to mind the memories and daily life images of the people in Can Tho and the Mekong Delta region in the days leading up to Tet.

This year, the Organizing Committee introduces to visitors the typical cultural heritages of the Kinh (Vietnamese), Chinese, and Khmer ethnic groups, including traditional handicraft demonstrations (knitting, weaving mats, wood carvings, etc.); folk cuisine exhibition with Southern folk cakes and traditional candied fruits for Tet; artistic calligraphy performance; folk music and dance performances. Besides, there is also a festival of artistic fruit carving decoration.

With 43 activities and 30 booths designed for Tet holiday, “the Colors of Spring in the Garden Land” program partially recreates old customs and traditions; thereby enhancing the Vietnamese traditional cultural values, and recalling the memories of Vietnam's traditional Tet. Moreover, the event contributes to preserving and promoting the Southern cultural heritage, and it is also an opportunity for artisans and artists to meet and interact with visitors.

Particularly, there will be a Water Puppet performance on the outdoor stage in Tao Dan Park. The plays are based on folk legends like The Legend of Thanh Giong and the Dragon that Makes Rain, Legend of the Kitchen God, and The Legend of Hoan Kiem Lake, etc. The performances not only attract children and evoke emotions in viewers but also promote the good moral values of the Vietnamese people. They also help in promoting the cultural heritage values of the nation.

“The Colors of Spring in the Garden Land” is an event that provides a platform for artisans to showcase, exchange, and promote various types of cultural heritage and typical culinary products of the locality to tourists from near and far. This event also aims to recognize and appreciate enthusiastic artisans who actively contribute to the preservation, transmission, and promotion of cultural heritage. Additionally, it serves as an opportunity to educate and raise awareness among the younger generation about the cultural heritage values of the nation.

In addition, “The Colors of Spring in the Garden Land” is also a cultural and tourism event, introducing domestic and foreign visitors to OCOP products and typical tourism products of Can Tho City.

Furthermore, you can stroll down Ong Do Street to see an artistic calligraphy performance and ask for calligraphy letters with auspicious meanings on Tet holiday. You can also participate in folk games, learn from famous artisans, and watch typical traditional art performances such as Don Ca Tai Tu (traditional Southern music), Can Tho Chanting, ethnic musical instrument concerts, folk singing, and dancing of the Khmer people in Can Tho… Besides, you can take beautiful photos and contemplate several outstanding stamp collections...

“The Colors of Spring in the Garden Land” 2024 program will open from January 26th to January 30th, 2024. Particularly, “Ong Do Street” and “Reading Books on Spring Days” will be available until February 14th, 2024 (the Lunar January 5th, 2024).
