These discussions highlighted the significance of integrating sustainability practices into youth-driven initiatives.
During the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Minh Thong, Head of the Can Tho City Youth Volunteer Intellectuals Club, emphasized that the city's youth have recently embraced the "Creative Youth" movement. This initiative focuses on applying knowledge, initiatives, and information technology to enhance their professional skills. Additionally, Can Tho youth are actively transferring scientific and technological advancements into production and exploring successful models for youth entrepreneurship and businesses. With the support and guidance of experts and scientists, each youth union member is inspired to gain valuable knowledge and skills.
Mr. Nguyen Tu Thien, Deputy Secretary of Can Tho Communist Youth Union and Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Association of Can Tho City, emphasized young people's importance in building an innovative and sustainable city of Can Tho. He noted that with their energy and intelligence, young individuals must recognize their pivotal role in this endeavor. Encouraging and supporting them in maximizing their creativity is essential to contribute to sustainable development, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation.
This workshop aims to create a platform for connecting and sharing innovative startup ideas and to provide an opportunity for young scientists, experts, youth union officials, and youth members to identify specific and practical solutions. These solutions will enhance urban management, environmental protection, and digital transformation, ultimately driving breakthroughs in the city's economy amid globalization and the challenges presented by climate change.
Delegates attended the workshop.
Mr. Nguyen Tu Thien believes the current focus on green economic development and smart cities represents long-term goals for Can Tho and significant opportunities for young people to pursue careers in start-ups that align with social responsibility. "This is a chance for you to distinguish yourselves and actively engage in the digital transformation across various sectors. It will help build a digital economic platform, a digital government, and a digital society in Can Tho," said Mr. Nguyen Tu Thien.
Ms. Le Thuy Ngoc Lan, Vice President of Can Tho City Union of Friendship Organizations, affirmed that Vietnamese youth, particularly those in Can Tho City, demonstrate creativity and dynamism. They are engaging with existing solutions and developing new initiatives in greenhouse gas emission reduction, climate change adaptation, and disaster risk reduction. These efforts include numerous nature-based projects.
Ms. Le Thuy Ngoc Lan believes this workshop will help youth union officials and members generate ideas and develop them into programs, research projects, and policy recommendations for the Party and State. These initiatives aim to support the building and development of the Mekong Delta region and Can Tho City in light of climate change and digital transformation. The goal is to contribute to the transformation of Can Tho City into a smart city, positioning it as a driving force in the Mekong Delta region. This aligns with Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW, dated August 5, 2020, from the Politburo, which outlines the vision for building and developing Can Tho City by 2030, with a vision toward 2045.
