Can Tho solemnly organized the Great Memorial Ceremony to commemorate the Holy Ancestor Dai Ai Dao and the Venerable Nuns

A Great Memorial Ceremony of the Holy Ancestor Dai Ai Dao and the Venerable Nuns who have contributed to Vietnamese Buddhism was solemnly held at Truc Lam Phuong Nam Zen Monastery (My Nhon hamlet, My Khanh commune, Phong Dien district, Can Tho city) on April 14.
The Great Memorial Ceremony of the Holy Ancestor Dai Ai Dao and the Venerable Nuns attract a large number of Buddhists from all over the country.

The Nuns Sub-Committee of Can Tho City hosted this year's great ceremony, attracting nearly 1,000 delegates and Buddhists nationwide. The event is an important event and an opportunity for Buddhist monks, nuns, and religious followers of Can Tho City to meet and show their gratitude to the Vietnamese Buddhist ancestors, thus contributing to developing Vietnamese Buddhism and bringing peace to society.

On behalf of more than 1,000 female disciples, Nun Thich Nu Chon Nhu - Deputy Head of the Nuns Sub-Committee of Can Tho City, offered tributes to the Holy Patriarch Dai Ai Dao and the Venerable Nuns who have been devoted to Vietnamese Buddhism.

Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Deputy Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, awarded a certificate of merit to the Nuns Sub-Committee of Can Tho City for significant contributions to social charity work in 2023.

At the Great Memorial Ceremony in Can Tho, Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon - Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) told the story about the establishment of the Central Nuns Sub-Committee. The venerable nuns have diligently practiced and followed the path of attaining sainthood set forth by the Holy Patriarch Dai Ai Dao and her disciples. Throughout different periods, all regions have had Venerable Nuns continuing this lineage.

After 13 years of operation, the Central Nuns Sub-Committee has contributed significantly to the development of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. During the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon encouraged the venerable nuns, and female disciples to continue their efforts to abide and practice according to the Dharma. He urged them to achieve precepts, concentration, wisdom, and liberation, and contribute their achievements to the common development of Buddhism and society.

On this occasion, the Nuns Sub-Committee of Can Tho City reported its Buddhist work activities to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS). At the same time, they awarded 120 scholarships to Buddhist apprentices studying at the Khmer Theravada Buddhist Academy and poor studious students in Can Tho City.

During the event, the Nuns Sub-Committee of Can Tho City was awarded a certificate of merit from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)'s Executive Council and another Certificate of Merit from the People's Committee of Can Tho City for their significant contributions towards the development of society. At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Kiet, the Head of Can Tho City's Religious Affairs Committee, expressed his hope that the Nuns Sub-Committee of Can Tho City will continue to make good contributions towards building a developed, safe, peaceful, and happy city of Can Tho.

The Great Memorial Ceremony of the Holy Ancestor Dai Ai Dao and the Venerable Nuns who have made significant contributions to Vietnamese Buddhism, is held annually by provinces and cities. After Can Tho, Ha Noi City will be the host for next year’s event.
