Con Au 18-hole golf course covers an area of 112 hectares. It is designed by Greg Norman, nicknamed the Great White Shark, who has designed over 100 golf courses in 34 nations in six continents and won numerous international prestigious prizes. The estimated construction time for Con Au Golf Course is 24 months

When completed, the project will add to the list of the best golf courses in the Southern region and is expected to become an attractive destination for visitors to experience services at the high-end golf course and resort. The project is expected to create a highlight for the tourism sector of Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region.

Addressing the event, Standing Vice Chairman of Can Tho Municipal People's Committee Duong Tan Hien expected this would be a large-scale and high-end project, making an important contribution to changing the appearance of the city.

According to Vice Chairman Duong Tan Hien, Can Tho is a young, dynamic city that plays a very important role in the socio-economic, defense, and security of the Mekong Delta and the whole country; built up by alluvium of the Hau River, a branch of the majestic Mekong River.

According to the master plan for the development of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1519/QD-TTg, dated December 2, Can Tho City will become a development hub in the Mekong Delta, with commercial, logistics, tourist, healthcare, education, science and technology. Under the master plan, Can Tho will develop transport infrastructure, especially airports, seaports, highways, and inland waterways, with industry and services being driving forces.

According to the master plan for tourism development in the Mekong Delta with a vision to 2030, Can Tho City will strive to become a tourist center of the Mekong Delta region and the country.

In addition, Can Tho Municipal Party Committee also issued Resolution No. 10-NQ/TU dated December 29, 2021, on promoting tourism development in the new situation. The document consistently affirms the view that tourism must be promoted to become a key economic sector of Can Tho City. All levels and sectors of the city must maximize the potential, advantages, and tourism resources of Can Tho, especially the gateway location of the lower Mekong River region associated with promoting the strengths of roads, waterways, and airlines...

To accomplish this goal, Can Tho City has recently issued many resolutions, programs, and plans, focusing on exploiting the potential and strengths of tourism and building specific products of Can Tho City. In the 2004 - 2023 period, Can Tho City is expected to welcome over 75 million tourists, an average increase of 14%/year, contributing positively to the city's growth, and making a significant contribution to the development of the tourism industry and socio-economic growth of the region.

To put the Con Au golf course into operation soon, Mr. Duong Tan Hien has requested the Cai Rang District People's Committee to ensure 100% site clearance completion by 2023. He has also asked them to ensure security, order, and social safety in the Con Au area. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment will guide investors in completing land procedures while finding support for materials to level the site. The project investor is expected to carry out all construction investment procedures urgently and deploy construction work to put the project into operation as soon as possible.
