In 2023, the tourism development cooperation and association cluster in the eastern Mekong Delta (Eastern Mekong Delta tourism cluster) welcomed nearly 12.3 million visitors, including over 950,000 international visitors. Total revenue from tourism reached nearly 8,700 billion VND.

Last year, the Eastern Mekong Delta tourism cluster engaged in effective collaboration and cooperation for tourism development with Mekong Delta localities and Ho Chi Minh City. The cluster invested in six new tourist destinations, organized many human resource training courses and called for investment in 18 potentially lucrative tourism projects. They also promoted digital transformation in tourism development and expansion of the market through various promotional programs and famtrips.

Particularly, several new activities left a lasting impression on tourists, such as the Dong Thap Mango Festival in 2023, the first Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Festival in 2023, the 3rd Vinh Long Tourism Festival, and the Culture, Tourism Week - Southern Food Festival in association with Ok Om Bok Festival in 2023 in Tra Vinh Province.

At the conference, the Eastern Mekong Delta tourism cluster identified several key areas for 2024. These include promoting the development of tourism products through building strategic relationships, attracting investment, and creating policies. The cluster also aims to enhance tourism promotion, invest in human resource development, build common events, and facilitate the exchange of experiences in state management. Additionally, there will be a strong emphasis on building tourism products and connecting them between different localities. For 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Long An Province will lead the cluster, with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap Province serving as the deputy cluster head.
