It is easy to find opportunities to cook and enjoy home-cooked meals in tourist destinations in Can Tho. At various resorts such as Mekong Silt Ecolodge, Vam Xang Rustic Can Tho, Victoria Can Tho, and TTC Can Tho, there are workshops and culinary programs that offer traditional cooking styles of Western Vietnam. These programs provide an excellent opportunity to learn about local culture and cuisine.

Huynh Thi Bich Tuyen, the owner of Mekong Silt Ecolodge Resort, believes that cuisine is an excellent way to introduce local culture to tourists, especially those who come from other countries. Mekong Silt Ecolodge resort often organizes programs for guests to experience cooking traditional dishes such as Vietnamese Sweet and Sour Fish Soup, Vietnamese braised and caramelized fish, spring rolls, and Southern folk cakes like banh it tran, banh troi nuoc, and banh tet. Guests love these programs because they can make these dishes themselves, and the resort staff guides them through the process while talking about the culture and history of Vietnamese food. The guests often take photos and share them with their friends and family, which helps spread the Vietnamese culture.

To ensure that their dishes are made from natural ingredients, Mekong Silt Ecolodge has set up a vegetable garden and fish pond. Guests can take a stroll around the garden and collect enough ingredients to make delicious dishes.

Ngan Long Home & Camp located at Con Son Islet is a popular tourist destination known for its Southwestern Vietnam specialties. Some of the dishes that visitors enjoy here include roasted snakehead fish, grilled snails with pepper, and Cu lao hotpot. Ms. Nguyen The Ngoc, Director of Ngan Long Home & Camp, said that near the property there is a snail farm, a ditch full of fish, and a vegetable garden. This makes it easy for the guests to gather fresh ingredients for their meals. Visitors not only have fun here but also get to savor the delicious Vietnamese rustic dishes.

Currently, culinary delights add to the allure of Vietnamese tourism. Trinh Van Luan, Co-founder of Vo Song Farm, stated that customers who visit the farm mainly come to experience Vietnamese countryside cuisine. The farm aims to promote this activity by making use of its existing strengths, such as the ponds and gardens. Recently, many families, particularly young ones, have been showing interest in harvesting vegetables and cooking meals. As a result, the farm plans to invest more in these activities in the near future. In addition to the vegetables and fruits available at the farm, they plan to collaborate with nearby locals to provide a diverse range of ingredients and experiences for visitors.

Similarly, Pham Thi Phuong, Director of Con Son Mien Nam Ecotourism Area, shared that the tourist area offers activities for guests to experience rural cuisine and make folk cakes. Its goal is to let customers see and experience folk cakes associated with the Vietnam Southwest countryside culture. Con Son Mien Nam Ecotourism Area also focuses on exploiting specialties from pangasius, as well as home-grown country dishes. Most guests, especially international ones, enjoy such experiences.

Korean tourist Kwon Min Ki stated that Korean and Vietnamese cuisine is somewhat similar, and he quickly adapted to the latter. He finds traditional Vietnamese dishes to be delicious. Banh Xeo, in particular, is very unique in taste and method of making. The sizzling sound it makes is just like the name of the cake, and the process of making it is very interesting. He feels happy when making cakes like that.

The tourism sector in Can Tho has recently put more emphasis on culinary experiences. Visitors can now not only enjoy the local cuisine but also participate in making the dishes themselves. This includes activities such as picking vegetables from the garden, catching fish and snails, and processing the ingredients to create the finished product. These experiences are a great way for tourists to immerse themselves in the local culture and lifestyle of the indigenous people, while also enjoying delicious food with a countryside flavor.
