Chairman of Can Tho Municipal People's Committee Tran Viet Truong, expressed his gratitude to Toshinao Tanaka and his delegation for their visit. He told his Japanese guest that the Prime Minister has approved the master plan for Can Tho City for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. Following this, the city is actively seeking investments in various sectors, particularly trade in services, high-tech agriculture, and agricultural production, within its industrial zones.
Chairman Tran Viet Truong said that each locality in the Mekong Delta has a unique agricultural raw material area. Can Tho City, in particular, has been designated by the Prime Minister as the location for the establishment of the Center for production, processing, and consumption of agricultural products in the Mekong Delta. This center will be responsible for consuming agricultural products from the whole region and distributing them for export. Additionally, Can Tho City is focused on developing seaports such as Cai Cui and Tan Cang Thot Not. Therefore, Chairman Tran Viet Truong hopes that the business leader will help invite Japanese businesses to invest in these sectors, he said, stating that Can Tho is willing to facilitate their operation in the city.
In response, Mr. Toshinao Tanaka thanked Can Tho leaders for supporting Japanese businesses over the years and assessed that the Mekong Delta possesses abundant agricultural resources and untapped potential. He stated that the company plans to increase the value of agricultural products in the region by utilizing innovative techniques and a new approach. He wished to explore potential collaboration projects in Can Tho City.
