At the meeting, Mr. Tran Viet Truong emphasized that in the past time, Can Tho City and Japan in general and JICA in particular have achieved many cooperation results in the fields of health, transportation, environment, import and export. JICA has also supported Can Tho to complete projects and is continuing to support Can Tho to implement the phase 2 technical assistance project at Can Tho University and the O Mon Thermal Power Plant project. The Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his hope that JICA will continue to support the project preparation procedures to soon sign the Funding Agreement, ensuring that the project is implemented according to the set plan. Thanking the city leaders for their welcome to the delegation, Mr. Sugano Yuichi, Chief Representative of JICA in Vietnam said that JICA recognizes that the Mekong Delta region, especially Can Tho city as the center of the region, is an important area and JICA wants to maintain and develop cooperation. In particular, the 2045 SDMD Forum (Sustainable Development Project for Mekong Delta), after more than 2 years of implementation, is proving the importance of the Forum in identifying urgent issues in the Mekong Delta region and providing necessary solutions. The SDMD 2024 forum organized by the People's Committee of Can Tho City on November 29th, which is expected to attract many international partners and researchers as well as domestic guests, is a good opportunity to promote relationships.
