With the birth of VSIP Industrial Park in Can Tho, there will be a surge in investments in trade, culture, education, healthcare, and other areas where Can Tho has strengths and can benefit from technology and experience from Singaporean partners.

At the reception, Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu expressed his delight to welcome the Singaporean delegation and highly appreciated the ever-growing strategic partnership and cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore. He also thanked the Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City Roy Kho for supporting and enthusiastically promoting the implementation of the Vietnam - Singapore Vinh Thanh Industrial Park project in Can Tho City (VSIP Can Tho), considering this an important milestone in the good cooperation relationship between the two countries.

Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu said that there will be a surge in investments in trade, culture, education, healthcare, and other areas where Can Tho has strengths and can benefit from technology and experience from Singaporean partners with the birth of VSIP Industrial Park in Can Tho.

Can Tho City aims to develop a clean, green, and environmentally friendly industrial sector. Therefore, environmental protection becomes the city’s top priority. In addition, the officials in Can Tho are concentrating their efforts on developing trade, services, education, healthcare, tourism, high-tech agriculture, and aquaculture since Can Tho is the hub of the Mekong Delta and has great potential in these fields, he said.

Can Tho City is making efforts to improve the infrastructure system, services, and human resources to meet the needs of businesses when investing in Can Tho. The city also takes steps to adapt to climate change and natural disasters by building technical structures to minimize damage. Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu hoped to receive support from friendly countries, including Singapore.

Speaking of the cooperation between Can Tho City and Singaporean businesses, Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu suggested the Consul-General continue to pay attention to and introduce Singapore businesses and investors to Can Tho to cooperate and invest in many fields in the coming time, especially in the fields of technology, logistics, healthcare, education, and tourism with the aim at turning Can Tho into a major center for food processing and distribution and infrastructure development in the Mekong Delta.

For his part, Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City Roy Kho highly appreciated the potential and strengths of Can Tho City and affirmed that this will be a potential destination for Singaporean investors in the near future. Regarding the VSIP Can Tho Industrial Park project, Singaporean Consul-General Roy Kho said that the project aims at green and sustainable development that will attract investors from many countries, not Singapore alone. Moreover, Singapore expects the project will accompany Can Tho city in its goal of becoming a food processing and distribution center, developing major infrastructure in the Mekong Delta region, and actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

In addition, Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City Roy Kho suggested the authorities of Can Tho focus on developing green economy, digital economy, renewable energy, and solar energy because these are key areas where Singapore will invest heavily in the near future.
