Speaking at the event, Director of VCCI Mekong Delta branch Nguyen Phuong Lam said that Japan is the third largest investor in Vietnam and the second largest investor in the Mekong Delta, just after Singapore. In recent years, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, Japanese investors have moved to the Mekong Delta since it is a major agricultural production region with a huge demand for transportation and logistics infrastructure, which are also the strengths of Senko Group.
Fukuda Yasuhisa, Chairman of Senko Group said that the group wants to build a logistics center with warehouses serving the export of agricultural and aquatic products in the south of Vietnam to expand the group's logistics system to the lower Mekong region and Southeast Asia.
According to Chairman Fukuda Yasuhisa, the SENKO Group has four core business domains: Logistics, Trading and Commerce, Living Support, and Business support, with 176 companies (160 subsidiaries, 16 affiliated companies) operating in over 20 countries across the globe. Currently, the Group has over 280 Vietnamese employees working in Japan and 53 Vietnamese employees working in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
Chairman Fukuda Yasuhisa hoped the meeting would provide information and opportunities for Japanese companies to invest in the Mekong Delta.
The meeting also includes a B2B event between Vietnamese firms operating in the Mekong Delta and Japanese businesses.
