Ha Vu Son, Director of Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade, emphasized the importance of tourism as a key economic sector of Can Tho City. However, the city faces many difficulties in developing trade and services. Therefore, the city focuses on solutions to boost revenue from tourism, trade, and services. He hoped that the signing would develop tourism, promote the economic development of Phong Dien District, and introduce the city’s agricultural and OCOP products to the world.
Le Hong Cam, CEO of Can Tho Eco Resort, said that the resort follows an eco-tourism model and develops towards sustainable agriculture. The resort includes 60 rooms, bungalows, and a farm to produce clean agricultural products for on-site service, but the supply is not enough to meet demand. Therefore, the collaboration between the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City and the People's Committee of Phong Dien district helps Can Tho Eco Resort solve that problem. This is also an opportunity for the resort to develop more local tourism products, contributing to increasing income for farmers.
At the ceremony, the representative of Can Tho Eco Resort signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with representatives of People's Committees of towns and communes in Phong Dien district. Accordingly, People's Committees of towns and communes in Phong Dien district will provide information on agricultural and OCOP products of the district for Can Tho Eco Resort. In return, Can Tho Eco Resort will promote and introduce these products to tourists.
