According to the Cần Thơ Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority, the VSIP Cần Thơ Industrial Park spans 293.7 hectares with a total investment of over VND 3.717 trillion. As of October 2024, 100% of the site clearance has been completed, and the Cần Thơ City People's Committee has carried out ground leveling, soft soil treatment, and procedures for obtaining construction permits for the industrial park's infrastructure. Once the necessary approvals for land-use certification and construction permits are received, the investor plans to commence infrastructure construction to provide clean land for secondary investors starting from Q2 2025.

During the meeting, VSIP Cần Thơ requested the city’s leadership to continue supporting the company in expediting land-use fee procedures, issuing land-use rights certificates, and handing over land to secondary investors on schedule. The company also proposed a suitable land-use fee policy to enhance investment competitiveness and requested guidance on obtaining construction permits concurrently with land-use certification. Additionally, VSIP Cần Thơ urged Thốt Nốt Water Supply JSC to submit a wholesale water pricing proposal for approval, allowing the company to finalize its official pricing offer to customers.

Furthermore, the company emphasized the urgency of completing two access roads to the industrial park, which would facilitate the installation of water, electricity, and telecommunications infrastructure for workers and goods transportation. The company also sought priority access to freshwater sand mines in the region to stabilize investment costs and create a competitive investment environment. Additionally, it suggested exploring the feasibility of using marine sand for ground leveling as an alternative to increasingly scarce traditional sand supplies.

At the meeting, Mr. Đỗ Thanh Bình, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Cần Thơ City Party Committee, urged city departments, agencies, and Vĩnh Thạnh District to strictly implement the directives of the Party Committee and the People's Committee, focusing on resolving obstacles and supporting businesses in project implementation. The goal is to have the first factory break ground in the industrial park by April 30, 2025.

The official reaffirmed the city government’s commitment to accompanying and facilitating the best possible conditions for VSIP and all enterprises investing in Cần Thơ. He also called on businesses to proactively overcome challenges and accelerate project implementation, contributing to the city’s overall development.

The Secretary of the Cần Thơ City Party Committee further instructed the Cần Thơ People’s Committee to quickly submit a formal request to the Government, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for approval to pilot the use of marine sand as a leveling material for the VSIP Cần Thơ Industrial Park and other projects in the area. This initiative aims to help reduce costs for investors.
