The "Choose to Live Healthily - Choose to Share" charity concert raises funds to support poor stroke patients in the Mekong Delta region

On the evening of May 6th, at Can Tho University, the Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Duong Tan Hien, attended the "Choose to Live Healthily - Choose to Share" charity concert organized by the S.I.S Can Tho International General Hospital to raise funds for stroke patients in the Mekong Delta region. This was also an opportunity to express gratitude towards the philanthropists and volunteers who have accompanied the fund for the past three years.
Permanent Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Duong Tan Hien made a speech at a fundraising program to support poor stroke patients in the Mekong Delta on the evening of May 6 at Can Tho University.

The program featured many artists such as Khac Trieu, Cam Van, Tuan Hung, Ung Hoang Phuc, Pham Khanh Hung, Uyen Linh, Lan Nha, CECE Truong, artist Mai Dinh Toi, record-breaking painter Doan Viet Tien, and around 1,300 guests including partners from S.I.S Can Tho International General Hospital and benefactors from the charity fund for poor stroke patients in the Mekong Delta region.

According to Ph.D. Dr. Tran Chi Cuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the charity fund for poor stroke patients in the Mekong Delta region, the financial burden of stroke treatment is significant for the poor in the region. This is also a concern for doctors treating stroke patients.

The charity fund for stroke patients in the Mekong Delta was established in 2020 with the belief of "never giving up on any stroke patient". Thanks to the support of the fund, 1,119 stroke patients from various provinces in the Mekong Delta region have received a total amount of over 10.579 billion VND for their treatment. The fund has also carried out many meaningful activities such as supporting the community and the healthcare sector in timely emergency treatment of severe stroke cases and severe COVID-19 cases requiring ventilators, supporting COVID-19 vaccination in the community, constructing a COVID-19 intensive care unit with 20 beds equipped with ventilators and central oxygen supply, supporting ventilators and SpO2 monitors for COVID-19 patients...

In addition, the Fund also collaborates with S.I.S Can Tho International General Hospital, the Ho Chi Minh City Congenital Heart Intervention Association, the Vietnam Heart Healing Association, and the Health Departments of localities in the Mekong Delta region… to implement a free screening program for congenital heart defects for preschool and primary school students in provinces such as Long An, Soc Trang, Can Tho, and Dong Thap, with over 1,000 children receiving free screening for congenital heart defects. This helps to early detect and cure congenital heart disease in children.
