In the past tenure, the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Can Tho City maintained a good relationship with France and Francophone partners by effectively co-hosting French Language Festival in the Mekong Delta region to celebrate International Francophonie Day (March 20th) and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France (April 12th, 1973 - April 12th, 2023); launching the “French Book Space” at Can Tho Library; signing cooperation agreements and sister city relationships with Nice and La Seyne-sur-Mer (France), creating favorable conditions for trade, and cooperation in various areas such as health care, culture, education, commerce, and tourism.

To promote social security activities of the city, the Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations and Vietnam - France Friendship Association of Can Tho City supported French NGOs such as Association Grandis et Deviens, Campus France VietNam, Good Morning Vietnam, AAFV - Association d'Amitié Franco-Vietnamienne, etc.

Mr. Dinh Trung Truc - Vice Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City - spoke at the congress.

Regarding education and training, the Vietnam - France Friendship Association of Can Tho City cooperated with Can Tho University to deploy many French training programs, especially the master training program affiliated with Nantes Polytechnic University of France in Data Mining & Knowledge Management. This is also the first international master's program of Can Tho University.

In the new tenure, the Vietnam - France Friendship Association of Can Tho City will continue to strengthen friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and France; actively coordinate with the Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations to build plans for people-to-people exchange; promote the teaching and learning of French at schools and universities; propose solutions to expand cooperation with French partners in the fields of trade and tourism; contribute to calling on French investment in Can Tho City.

President of Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations Le Thi Thanh Giang presented the Certificate of Merit to the Executive Board of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Can Tho City for the 2018-2023 term.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Dinh Trung Truc, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, suggested that the new Executive Board of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Can Tho City should continue to be proactive, creative and diversify the cooperation relationship between French partners and Can Tho city; promote and develop the activities of the Francophone community in the fields of economy, culture, healthcare, tourism, education and training; coordinate with Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations to support French investors in Can Tho City; open more Francophone Book Space and Francophone libraries to meet readers' needs relating to learning and researching documents in French.

President of Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations Le Thi Thanh Giang presented a gift to honor Chairman of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Can Tho City for the past tenure Tran Van Lua.

In addition, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City Dinh Trung Truc also asked the Executive Board of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Can Tho City for the term of 2023 - 2028 to expand the cooperation with French NGOs; connect with the Vietnamese in France to jointly carry out cooperative activities to contribute to the economic development and social security of Can Tho City.

As the new president of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Can Tho City, Nguyen Phuc Tang expressed his honor for being given such a great responsibility and pledged to do his best to complete the tasks set out at the congress, contributing to the enhancement of the association’s performance in the time to come.
