This year, the Can Tho City Youth Summer Volunteer Campaign is organized with one program and four core activities: leading in community digital transformation; participating in building civilized urban areas; participating in the development of advanced and model new rural areas; ensuring social security and contributing to the well-being of beloved children. Concurrently, it aims to achieve basic targets such as constructing at least 10 civilized streets based on the criteria of "Bright, Green, Clean, Beautiful, Civilized, and Safe"; building at least 15 charity and compassion houses; supporting the implementation and realization of 380 ideas and initiatives from youth members; enhancing digital literacy for children and citizens.

On this occasion, the Can Tho Youth Union introduces 12 specialized teams of the Campaign, specifically: 1-Young Volunteer Doctor Team; 2-Green Summer Campaign Team; 3-Green Military Campaign Team; 4-Pink Vacation Campaign Team; 5-Exam Support Team; 6-Red Flamboyant Campaign Team; 7-Community Digital Transformation Team; 8-Support Team for Advanced New Rural Development in Vinh Binh Commune, Vinh Thanh District; 9-Support Team for Model New Rural Development in Dong Hiep Commune, Co Do District; 10-Support Team for Model New Rural Development in Truong Thanh Commune, Thoi Lai District; 11-Support Team for Model New Rural Development in My Khanh Commune, Phong Dien District; 12-Young Intellectuals Team for Scientific and Technological Transfer.

According to Mr. Lam Van Tan, Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho Youth Union, this year's Youth Summer Volunteer Campaign is different from the previous year, which is the establishment of four specialized teams for the development of model new rural areas and advanced new rural areas in Phong Dien, Co Do, Vinh Thanh, and Thoi Lai districts. Youth members will concentrate their efforts to support and fulfill the targets and criteria for building model new rural areas and advancing new rural areas in localities, following the motto "Di dan nho, o dan thuong" (When leaving, people are remembered; when staying, people are cared for). It is estimated that around 50,000 youth members will participate in various fronts and campaigns across different regions.

Furthermore, Mr. Lam Van Tan shared that the launch of the Youth Festival marking the commencement of the Youth Summer Volunteer Campaign has brought about an atmosphere of excitement, enthusiasm, and hope that the campaign in 2023 will be brilliantly successful. It is expected to accomplish numerous specific projects and tasks, contributing to the construction and socio-economic development of localities.

Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee and Head of the City Youth Development Program Steering Committee, stated that with practical activities over the years, the Youth Summer Volunteer Campaign has become a highlight of the city's youth. It has attracted a large number of youth members' participation, making a positive contribution to the socio-economic development and addressing difficulties in localities within Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region as a whole, especially in remote and distant areas.

This year's Youth Summer Volunteer Campaign with the theme "Can Tho Youth Engaging in Digital Transformation for a Civilized City" follows the motto "Safety, Practicality, Effectiveness." It includes on-site voluntary activities and specialized team activities in various fields across the city's localities of the city’s youth. The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee acknowledges that the city always places trust and expectations on youth members, believing that the city's young force always strives to overcome challenges and take the lead in all activities. With an unwavering spirit of continuous creativity, they contribute to solving difficulties and obstacles faced by localities and units.

In light of this, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien requests that youth members, and students actively promote the spirit of unity and actively participate in various projects and tasks. He emphasizes the importance of ensuring scientific and practical approaches, avoiding formal organization, and collectively contributing to the construction of a civilized city, the development of advanced new rural areas, and the establishment of model new rural areas. This will help guarantee social security and welfare within the city's jurisdiction.

To ensure the success and effectiveness of the Youth Summer Volunteer Campaign in 2023, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien proposes that relevant units and localities create favorable conditions to support the effective implementation of activities by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union according to the established plan. The Youth Union at all levels should actively carry out their tasks within the framework of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign as outlined by the Steering Committee. This includes focusing on criteria for the development of advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas, as well as providing support and assistance for the national high school graduation examination in their respective areas of responsibility. Additionally, it is important to properly organize activities related to gratitude, care, and support for heroic Vietnamese mothers, policy-beneficiary families, and children facing difficult circumstances.

The various levels, sectors, and localities should coordinate with the corresponding youth organizations to timely assess and summarize youth volunteer models, and enhance societal attention to the care, nurturing, and utilization of the youth resources in the country's industrialization and modernization efforts.

Furthermore, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien suggests that youth organizations at all levels have specific plans and intensify propaganda work to ensure that youth members have a full understanding of the significance of the Campaign. This is an opportunity for youth members to dedicate themselves, develop and mature, actively participate and overcome all difficulties, be dynamic and creative, and successfully fulfill their assigned tasks.

After the Launching Ceremony, the City Youth Union departments organize volunteer activities such as the Young Doctors' Day following Uncle Ho's volunteer spirit for community health, providing medical examinations and free medication for the people at the Can Tho Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital. They also remove unauthorized advertising boards, participate in environmental sanitation and bush removal side by side with planting trees along the roadsides, carry out flagpole construction projects, provide guidance to the residents on installing the VNeID application and public services, and distribute gifts to underprivileged students facing difficult circumstances.

* In order to provide a platform for the youth of Can Tho City to enhance their capacities, skills, and personal development orientation for the future, aiming to build a resilient, proactive, united, and creative youth community, on the same day, the Executive Committee of the City Youth Union, the Youth Federation, and the Vietnamese Student Association of Can Tho City organized the Can Tho City Youth Day 2023 with the theme "Culture - Entrepreneurship - Integration".

The city's leaders conducted the opening ceremony of the Can Tho City Youth Day 2023.

The festival is a special event with various activities for the city's youth, taking place over 2 days (from May 26th to May 27th, 2023). Within the framework of the festival, the organizing committee creates corresponding spaces with different themes, including Can Tho Youth Space with culture, Can Tho Youth Startup Space, Can Tho Youth Integration Space, featuring various activities and events such as Club and city-wide team festivals, forum on "Youth with the mission of promoting culture in the digital age," dialogue between the Chairman of the Student Union and "Five Good Students" at all levels, specialized training on "Creative Thinking Methods for Youth", "Youth Startup Festival and Connection of Startup Products and OCOP Products" space, commendation of progressive youth following Uncle Ho's teachings, talk show on Startup with Youth, and the organization of the city-level finals of the English Olympic competition in 2023.
