Since the issuance of Decree No. 65/SL - the first decree of our country on the preservation of cultural heritage, signed by President Ho Chi Minh on November 23, 1945 (since 2005, this date has been designated as Vietnam's Cultural Heritage Day by the Prime Minister's decision), it has been affirmed that "Preserving folklore is a very important and necessary task in the nation-building process of Vietnam." This also serves as a guiding principle in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage in Can Tho City, creating internal resources for development.

In the southwestern region, every family usually has an altar for Ong Thien placed in the front, known as the Ong Thien altar or Thong Thien altar.
