According to statistics, Can Tho currently has 104 types of intangible cultural heritage, in which Cai Rang Floating Market and Ky Yen Thuong Dien Festival in Binh Thuy Temple have been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of the nation. The others have also confirmed the roles and the characters of Can Tho, such as: Can Tho “Ho”, Tong Phong ceremony of Can Tho people, “Mam” hot pot, and so on. These have played an important role in the spiritual life of the local people and become a valuable resource to develop tourism.
An overview of intangible cultural heritage types: while the traditional craft and folk knowledge are being well promoted, folk literature, social customs and rituals are being at risk. Particularly, some ceremonies of Khmer people in Can Tho should be in need to document and record for reservation, such as Pithi Chuol nlop and traditional wedding. The main reason of the risk due to the fact that the people who do these ceremonies are too old so their memories are reduced but there are few successors. Similarly, some types of performances as hat boi (classical theatre and folk singing), ho (chantey), nhac le (ceremonial music), folk dance and so on are short of human resource because “bamboos grow old” but “young shoots do not spring up”.
In fact, preserving and promoting the value of intangible cultural heritage in Can Tho are not corresponding with the value of the heritage. “Hat boi” is an example; Can Tho has had some artisans who are very enthusiastic with their career. Sadly, artisan Bau Hieu, who had 3 generation singing folk music, died in poverty; artisan Phuong Anh, the only female leader of the folk music band in Can Tho is still busy herself with “rice, clothes and money”. Almost, they did not receive any support from the locality. Some old artisans also live by themselves.
In such situation, the project is a kick in the reservation of the intangible cultural heritage in Can Tho. The solutions proposed in the project are specific and feasible. Can Tho needs to hold a workshop on preserving and promoting the heritage in general, the intangible cultural heritage in particular, to put specific criteria into the regulation of the city Party and the annual report of the People’s Council at all levels. Especially, the policy supporting those who practice the heritage is necessary because of the proverb “Fine words butter no parsnip”.
The research method and application of the project are really good. It is the conduction of investigations and recording by modern technology the customs, habits, festivals and some other intangible forms that can be in risk. It is also the application in the system of digitizing and updating information on heritage on internet. However, the main point is raising the awareness for everybody about the value of the heritage and their responsibilities in preserving traditional values. The activities done by Can Tho cultural departments as “Back to heritage”, “Students learning heritage” and so on, also proved positive effects.
Believing that the vitality of heritage in Can Tho will be aroused from this project.

The Prime Minister has issued Decision No. 2089/QĐ-TTg on December 25, 2017 on the recognition of national treasure (the 6th stage). 
Located by the Rach Cam canal (Long An Ward, Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city), Long Quang pagoda is well-known for its 100-year-old Eighteen Arhats’ statues which are sophisticatedly sculptured and made from Pyinkado wood. 
Can Tho is now regarded as the most attractive tourist destination in Mekong Delta because of its rich nature and human tourism potential as well as modern tourism facilities of a city in the water areas. 
Can Tho City has attracted visitors thanks to its well-known river tours so far. Recently, its tourism has gradually improved by offering more tourism products and upgraded its activities so that it can become a safe destination for tourists. 
Can Tho has gradually formed the system of featured tourism products _ river tourism, river residence and communities... To create attractiveness and diverse its products, Can Tho tourism has tried to invest in and upgrade the quality of activities, support services, especially the featured events. 
Can Tho City has been planned to be an ecological city with its tourism featured by the waterways countryside in the future. 
Cai Rang Floating Market Festival is the first time to be held on July 8-9. It is planned to be held every year in order to preserve the featured cultural identity of the people in the South West waterways region. Also, this annual festival can help provide a tourism highlight so as to attract more visitors to Can Tho City. 
According to the plan of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, The Fifth Southern Traditional Cake Festival 2016, hold by the Centre for Investigation – Trade Promotion and the Can Tho Exhibition Fair, will take place from October 15 to 19-04, (from 9 to 13-03 of lunar calendar), at the Cai Khe roundabout, Ninh Kieu district. 
The ecological characteristics of Can Tho are quite similar to other provinces of the Mekong Delta so basically food and dishes in Can Tho are also similar to other regions’ food. Cooked ordinary rice is the major food and dishes are fish, meat ... processed by grilling, frying, steaming, stirring, braising... In addition, eels, frogs, turtles, snakes, birds ... are plenty and easy to be found that contribute to enrich the meals of Can Tho people. It can be said that, a meal of Can Tho people consists of rice + vegetables + fish + meat. Depending on customs of each local and the situation of each family that the materials could be varied. However, previously, Can Tho people, especially in rural areas used to have the habit of prioritizing the meal of rice + vegetable + fish. Meat was secondary because this was luxurious item that was only served in holidays, but rivers were full of fish, just needed to catch for their meal. 
Binh Thuy is famous not only for its various cultural-historical relics but also for the network of interwoven rivers and orchards laden with fruits, which makes up the unique path for exciting discoveries. To fully enjoy all this beauty, you should have a try with a waterways tour including visits to the historical-cultural relics. 
"Tan Loc Orchard Festival" of this year is from June 18th to 20th 2015 (or May 3rd to 5th of Lunar Year), at Tan Loc Dong temple, Tan Loc Ward, Thot Not district.

Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL) has issued an official text on the proposal to expand the size of South Folk Cake Festival in Can Tho by Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. 
Performances of traditional theatre on a mini stage have become popular in Can Tho city over the past year. Launched in early 2013, this type of theatre has attracted local people as well as visitors and has contributed to preserving and promoting traditional theatre.
