At the meeting, Ms. Emily Hamblin, Consul General of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, thanked the warm welcome of the city leaders and expressed her joy to visit the city of Can Tho.
For her part, Emily Hamblin highly evaluated the outstanding economic development and development potential of Can Tho city as a major hub of the Mekong Delta region. On that basis, she wished the two sides would strengthen bilateral cooperation in many fields, especially in education.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Anh, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city, highly appreciated the visit of Consul General Emily Hamblin and wished to enhance bilateral cooperation in the spheres of energy, manufacturing, education, and other industrial sectors, especially those using high technology such as aviation and automobiles.

Based on the UK’s strengths in fields that meet the Can Tho’s demand for development, Vice Chairwoman Vo Thi Hong Anh urged UK investors to invest in processing, high-tech industry, manufacturing, supporting industries, and education. Specifically, the city wants to call for investment in the project of Can Tho Information Technology Centre (spanning 20.03 ha in Hung Thanh ward of Cai Rang district) and encourage greater cooperation between UK educational institutions and universities in Can Tho city.
Vice Chairwoman Vo Thi Hong Anh stressed that the city of Can Tho will create favorable conditions for investors from the UK and hoped for sustainable bilateral cooperation between the UK and Can Tho city.
