At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Andreas Stoffers, Country Director of FNF in Vietnam thanked the hospitable reception of the city leaders and highly appreciated the development of Can Tho in recent years. Prof. Dr. Andreas Stoffers said FNF Vietnam focuses on promoting the development of the market economy of Vietnam. Particularly, FNF Vietnam organizes 40-50 activities in Vietnam every year in the form of talk shows, seminars, and conferences. Moreover, FNF Vietnam promotes academic exchange between Vietnam and Germany on many hot topics such as education and training, an open and digital society, the future of the market economy, and international integration.
After working with the Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations (CUFO) and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Can Tho branch (VCCI Can Tho), FNF Vietnam has selected 9 promising enterprises in the Mekong Delta as subjects to implement a project to support businesses, thereby promoting two-way trade between Vietnam and the European Union (EU) as well as making the most of the opportunities offered by the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Dương Tấn Hiển, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cần Thơ city, said that Can Tho is ready to welcome and cooperate with international partners, including partners from Germany and the EU. To have good access to the European market and implement EVFTA, the city has organized many online conferences and seminars with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to implement the policies of the EVFTA and seek opportunities for successful cooperation with EU partners.
With the cooperation and support from FNF Vietnam, Mr. Dương Tấn Hiển hopes businesses in Cần Thơ city the will have better access to the EU market, especially in the fields of agricultural products, aquatic products, and garments.

The Foundation was named after Friedrich Naumann (1860-1919), a pioneer in German liberal politics. The Foundation operates in more than 60 countries around the world, giving knowledge and advice to voters, NGO activists, academics, economists, journalists, politicians, and policymakers. In Vietnam, FNF Representative Office was established in 2012 based on cooperation projects to strengthen the market economy. In 2020, to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations and the signing of the EVFTA, FNF Vietnam has collaborated with reputable agencies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Hanoi National University to organize many meaningful activities nationwide.
